But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God” (Luke 18:16)

Roe vs Wade Overturned by US Supreme Court!
by Simon ini know there was a leak a few weeks back, but this really does seem to have come out of the blue.. the anomaly was the original decision.
it clearly had no basis in law or the constitution, and was a flimsy, ridiculous ruling.
plus the whole thing was based on a fraudulent case in the first place.. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-61928898.

"if you think that's bad, how about this: a US woman called Lindsey Ellis deliberately got herself pregnant just so she could have an abortion and make a documentary about it. The documentary is apparently called The A Word. WTF is wrong with these people?!"
Yeh, that is sick.

UK Contaminated Blood Scandal
by Simon inup to 30,000 people contracted hiv and hepatitis c in the 1970s and 80s after being given blood treatments or transfusions on the nhs.. thousands have since died.. it just goes to show there is no such thing as a sure thing.. the wts may be wrong about their blood doctrine, and their bible interpretation to justify it, and how they enforced the rules about it, but ultimately may be correct in claiming that "bloodless surgery" was a safer option medically.. canada also had a contaminated blood scandal, where 30,000 were infected with hepatitis c and hiv.. in other news, paying for blood from high-risk donors is a bad idea.
who knew?
well apparently the people behind the schemes did, and that's why they covered it up.. https://www.bbc.com/news/health-61929986.

Its easy for a conservative middle aged, middle classed man to tell a young woman how she should live her life. Now imagine if you were that young woman of 16 or 17 with that decision weighing on you because you made a bad choice.
"I'm not sure that's a good example".
Hi Tonus, the reason I used that example is because I know a couple of girls personally who were that age when they were faced with that decision. Incidentally, both from very normal, middle class families.
My point is that this has been going on forever. I agree that these days we have medical treatments that take a lot of risk out pregnancies compared to the past, but not all women in all countries have that luxury.
Taking it one step further, some religious beliefs extend to banning birth control. If we are having an honest conversation about life here, where do we draw the line? Is it morally unacceptable that semen be wasted? Is someone using birth control pre-emptively aborting potential life? Some people genuinely believe that.

Read about the history of abortion.
If prostitution is the oldest profession, then performing abortions for those women is probably the second oldest.
Its easy for a conservative middle aged, middle classed man to tell a young woman how she should live her life. Now imagine if you were that young woman of 16 or 17 with that decision weighing on you because you made a bad choice. I would guess that a lot of those middle aged men have daughters that have had abortions and they probably arent even aware of it.
Dont get me wrong, Im extremely uncomfortable with the idea of abortion but I havent walked in the shoes of someone that has had to make that decision.

"There are lots of stories of people who go through the same thing and stick together and have a wonderful family and child as a result."
Simon, you are right, it could go either way. An unwanted child, given the chance may eventually grow into a real asset to the human race.
Unwanted pregnancies have been around since the beginning of time, its nothing new. Abortion is nothing new either. It has been practised forever. A pregnant woman is going to do what she wants, regardless of what the government tells her.

A young guy and girl think they are in love. The girl gets pregnant -the guy runs away.
The girl now has a life long burden to carry, on her own , with stigma and shame attached.
Will her family step up and help her, or will they turn their back? Often, it may be her family that encourages the abortion. If she has the child and adopts it out, there is a minefield of feelings she has to work through for the rest of her life. Even if she can detach herself, laws are now in place for the child to know who their birth parents are, so she cant escape those feelings if the child tries to make contact.
She has to face the struggle of being a single mum, or the chance that the new step-dad will abuse her, the child, or both. What kind of security can she offer the child, what about education?
These issues are no joke for a young woman to have to deal with. Its understandable why some women dont like to be told how to live their lives by men.

Are You Concerned About Inflation?
by Simon ini saw a statistic the other day that something like 25% of all the debt that the us has incurred since 1776 was created in the last 12 months.
that's because they have printed so much currency and instead of letting that stop them, they are going to continue printing more to go on a spending spree on crazy green-new-deal schemes and union handouts.. does anyone think that this can be anything other than inflationary?
they are effectively stealing the wealth of everyone to then hand money out to people.

I believe the world never really recovered from the 2008 financial crisis.
Companies that had no right to continue trading because of their greed and stupidity, were propped up artificially and handed billions. These billions came from thin air, via the printing press.
Ever since then, markets have continued trading at unnatural levels thanks to handouts and low interest rates.
The effects of the pandemic and war on finances is now like the tide retreating and we'll see who has been swimming naked.
